Job Description Position: Ironworker, Journeyman Position Code: Applies to: Maintenance Jobs FLSA Status: Non-exempt (Hourly) Turnaround Projects Non-exempt (Salaried) Capital Projects ExemptReports to: Supervisor Last Reviewed: 4/14/20 Primary Function:The Ironworker (Structural Steel) is normally responsible for the erection, bolt up, plumbing, and alignment of steel structures. An Ironworker lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, places, joins girders, and erects structural steel components in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards to completed structures. Duties of an Ironworker will include but not limited to: safety, quality, notifying supervisor of material and equipment needs, and working with HEMI's QA/QC department in assuring all quality requirements are being met.HEMI Systems is a merit shop contractor supporting a team working environment. As such, all team members will be required from time-to-time to perform other duties that they are qualified to perform, outside of this job description and their normal work function.Work Environment:The normal work environment will be at an industrial construction facility where exposure to outdoor weather conditions is possible and where proper PPE is required for a variety of potential hazards.Roles & Responsibilities:The roles and responsibilities of an Ironworker may include but are not limited to the following items.*Safe use of Hand & Power Tools.*Work safely at all times and promote safety to others around you.*Strong working knowledge of and experience working with structural steel.*Perform quality work as determined by the project specifications.*Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.*Assist immediate supervisor with aligning future tasks to be completed.*Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. *Selects type and size of structural steel and related materials according to the job specifications.*Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.*Cuts structural steel using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, or cutting torch.*Prioritize tasks according to job schedule.*Get all tools and materials used by your crew to the proper place at the beginning and end of your shift.*Must be willing to provide guidance and on the job training experience to other crafts from Ironworker Helpers to Laborers.*Participate fully in health, safety, quality, and environmental processes.Qualification Guidelines:*Experience:Experience in the industrial Ironworking industry (petrochemical, power plant, cement plant) or related field, with four or more years of experience as an Ironworker.*Skills:*Strong math knowledge and skills as related to the job tasks. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately*Able to use torchcutting equipment. *Knowledge of connecting, placing, rigging, joining, and cutting structural steel.*Knowledge of rigging skills, rigging procedures, OSHA standards, and be able to handle and install large steel components.*Knowledge of the various sizes of structural shapes, fasteners, grating, and metal sheeting. *Able to read and understand structural drawings.*Able to read and understand weld symbols.*Successfully complete the appropriate HEMI skills assessment tests.*Education:- Must be willing to attend and successfully complete continued training applicable to the job as deemed necessary by HEMI (such as but not limited to rigging practices that pertain to structural steel). - Must have valid driver's license or other government issued identification.*Physical:*Must comply with HEMI's dru
