Job Description

The person in the position of Body Install Technician is responsible to perform assembly and installations of custom hitches, frame extensions, truck body components and aerial equipment on truck chassis.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES .and.amp;.and.nbsp;QUALIFICATIONS:.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp;Competent use of all shop equipment.and.nbsp; (iron worker, drills, saws, acetylene torch, plasma arc, AC .and.amp; DC welders, SMAW, GTAW, hand and layout tools, operate forklifts,overhead cranes)Understand heat and the effect on weldmentsCheck part drawings and parts to be weldedFollow procedure and set up to drawings or instructionsPositions piece manually, with use of hoist, overhead crane or forkliftPrepare surfaces using hand or air chisel, hammer, wire brush or grinderSets up proper voltage, current, polarity and gas pressure for procedureMakes required adjustments and changes to assure manufacturing specificationsUnloads work manually with use of hoist, overhead crane and folkliftCapable of reading and comprehending blueprints, drawings and weld symbolsWelding all types of fabricationsOther Duties as assigned by supervisor.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS .and.amp;.and.nbsp;ABILITIES:.and.nbsp;Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasksMotivated, punctual and have good work ethic, such as reliability and dependabilityPhysical strength, agility and balance to climb, into, on top of, and under the project as necessaryClimbing ladders may be required at times as well as kneeling for periods of time.Climb to 14 feet and work at heights of 14 to 15 feetCandidate must be able to follow schematics, drawings or blueprints and be able to work with minimal supervision.and.nbsp;Observes all safety regulationsAbility to work independently and as a team memberMust be able.and.nbsp;to understand, read and speak English languageEmployees are to supply required tools and ANSI approved toe protection footwear.and.nbsp;High School Diploma and certificate from an accredited technical or trade schoolMust be able to fit and weld using MIG processes.and.nbsp;Welds should be aesthetically pleasing with a minimum of grindingMust be able to use acetylene set and plasma machine for burningWorking knowledge of truck industry with truck.and.nbsp;electrical experienceGood mechanical aptitude, including the ability to use basic hand and measuring tools (which the employee is expected to supply)Other duties as necessitated by change or by direction of managementMinimum Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basisClimb to 14.and.#39;and work at heights of 14 to 15.and.#39; on top of trailers.and.nbsp;Install assemblies made from a variety of materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc) when provided with blueprints, samples, or verbal instructions..and.nbsp;Must be able to fit and weld using MIG processes..and.nbsp; Welds should be aesthetically pleasing with a minimum of grinding.Must be able to use acetylene set and plasma machine for burningGood mechanical aptitude, including the ability to use basic hand and measuring tools (which the employee is expected to supply)Knowledge of all equipment including the following: saws, ironworkers, drills, cutting torches and welders.Must be able to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranesThe ability to read and interpret drawing, specifications and manuals and competently inspect all products manufactured.Other duties as necessitated by change or by direction of management.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp;.and.nbsp; SMF is an equal opportunity employer
