The objective for this role is to lead and achieve productivity savings on European Metals components by working closely with R&D, design engineering and supply base to improve cost and performance of Hillrom products while ensuring quality and supply continuity (i.e. by introducing alternate materials and/or technologies, etc.). The individual will also support product development core teams.

The Sourcing Lead is part of the Global Sourcing Organization and reports directly to the Director of Global Sourcing – Metals. The Position is an individual contributor (no direct reports). In a highly matrixed environment, s/he will interact closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Purchasing, and Finance teams for idea generation, cost analysis, and solution validation.

+ Drive and develop the Center Led strategic goals for the European region.
+ Design & deploy the Metals supply base strategy within Europe with a pragmatic approach of globalization and rationalization for the 3 sites (including a performance measurement methodology).
+ Drive key negotiations for European multi-sites suppliers.
+ Lead internal and supplier VA/VE workshops to identify and implement cost savings opportunities, including business case analysis, development and execution of action plans and tracking of projects to meet annual financial goals.
+ Initiate and lead the efforts to identify and qualify second sources for material availability, cost reduction and reliability improvement purposes.
+ Review and follow through Supplier Change Notification (SCN) for metals components.
+ Review, analyze and optimize Bills of Materials (BOM’s) down to manufacturer part level.
+ Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure metals components designs are cost effective, robust and manufacturable with high levels of quality.
+ Participate on new product development core teams.
+ Understand component technology roadmaps/trends and present them to Design Engineering.
+ Keep current on industry, company products, and technical knowledge, and uses that knowledge and skills to perform assignments at a high level.
+ Monitor, track and report on savings, projects and incremental value of productivity savings activities.
+ Must be willing to travel to Hillrom and supplier sites.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Education, Experience and Qualifications:**
+ 10 years’ experience in a regulated manufacturing industry in an Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Supply Chain role. Experience in Medical Device or Life Sciences industry highly valued.
+ Bachelor´s degree in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering required.
+ Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of work experience and education in a specific technical discipline.
+ 7 years´ experience in Metals Category required: raw material, machining, stamping, sheet/tube laser, casting, aluminum extrusion, hardware, welded assembly, finishing processes, sub-assembly/value-added processes, tooling, etc.
+ Strong project management skills with demonstrated success managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
+ Strong EMEA metals market knowledge, to challenge incumbents but also to move with the “key stars” of tomorrow.
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business data (funding, materials, information) to effectively use them and get things done.
+ Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, teamwork and communication/interpersonal skills.
+ Cross-functional team experience with proven ability to listen, engage and influence and/or lead internal and external stakeholders.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail.
+ Highly self-motivated with the ability to perform independent work.
+ Global mindset with experience working in an international/multi-cultural matrix environment.
+ Languages: Bilingual English level mandatory; German preferred.
+ Must be able to travel internationally and domestically (30%)
The role is located in Europe, in Pluvigner site (France). Consideration will also be given to candidates in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Munich (Germany).
