Job Description

Position: Heavy Equipment MechanicFIRST SCREENING OF APPLICATIONS WILL BE ON SEPTEMBER 17th AND THEN EVERY 2WEEKS UNTIL FILLEDDuties: Performs and directs diagnostics, major and minor repairs andgeneral maintenance on gas hybrid, gasoline and diesel engines and majordrive traincomponents transmissions, differentials and drive units.Performs and directs diagnostics, major and minor repairs on emissionssystem, cooling systems, fuel systems, electrical circuits, airconditioning systems, air systems and hydraulic systems.Performs safety repairs to comply with DOT regulations including air andhydraulic brake systems, repairs and adjusts lights, aligns front and rearends; balances tires, adjusts drive lines and repairs damaged vehicle bodies.Maintains necessary records of all work performed using computerized fleetmanagement system.Complete all necessary paperwork related to job assignments and time cards.Performs general in shop repairs of minor system failures includinglights, brakes, brake adjustments, air system leaks, two-way radiosystem installations, cooling system problems and fuel system problems.Makes emergency road calls, which may require wrecker service or specialtransportation.Rebuilds gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatictransmissions, single and twin screw rear axles and compressor systems.Performs engineering, layout, fabrication and installation of newequipment or repairs and redesign on existing equipment.Cleans and organizes shop and equipment, changes solvents and disposes oftrash and waste as required.Maintains work area, tools and equipment in a clean and safe condition;responsible for reporting unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor.Answers phone and radio calls.Orders and picks up parts.Provides instruction on equipment operation.Makes welding repairs.Performs on-site service and emergency calls.Fills in for other staff as necessary and/or required.Attends meetings, classes and trainings as required or requested bysupervisor.Encouraged to recommend changes to improve procedures that would result inefficiencies, cost savings and safety.Communicates actively, clearly and regularly with supervisor and co-workerson all work-related topics.Understands, observes and complies with all governmental, and Departmentalpolicies, procedures and protocols when performing job duties.Possesses excellent oral and written skills to communicate effectively.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employeesfrom same or different departments/offices, entities and customers.Effectively manages multiple projects at once.Effectively deals with stressful situations.Easily adapts to sudden and unexpected changes in work assignments.Requirements:High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.Minimum of five years of experience performing mechanical repairs on all onheavy duty vehicles and equipment required.Valid Class B Colorado Commercial Driver's License preferred, however,if candidate is selected without a Class B CDL, they will be required toobtain it within one hundred and twenty days after date of employment.Automotive Service Excellence Certification must be obtained within one yearfrom date of hireOther Requirements:Must be able to pass post job offer physical screening.Must successfully pass background check.Basic Proficiency:Ability to work effectively with other employees.Follows verbal and written instructions.Interprets and works from oral and written instructions, technicalmanuals, drawings and other source material, including wiring schematics.Full Proficiency: Knowledge of the procedures and practices of theautomotive repair trade as applied to the repair of automotive, heavyequipment and other equipment; of welding and fabrication procedures.Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions.Ability to learn and operate a variety of shop equipment including, forklift, floor jacks, tire balancer, air conditioning recyclingequipment, electronic engine scanner, lathe, metal break, ironwork
